Xi'an Metro

Xi'an Metro

Frictionless turnstile crossing improves urban mobility accessibility for riders.
  • Client Profile

Xi'an Metro is an urban rail transit system serving Xi'an City and its surrounding areas in Shaanxi Province. Its first operational line, Line 2, commenced trial operation on September 16, 2011, making Xi'an the 14th mainland Chinese city to launch urban rail transit and the first in Northwest China to operate a metro system.

  • Customer pain points

The solution is designed to eliminate barriers to seamless transit by accommodating passengers facing common disruptions: drained mobile devices, insufficient funds, childcare responsibilities, or active phone conversations.

  • Cooperation Plan

Since January 21, 2020, all stations across Xi'an Metro's network have progressively launched contactless gate access functionality. With this feature enabled, passengers can simply pass through designated turnstiles after a single verification for swift and seamless travel.

  • Implementation results

In June 2021, SenseTime's Smart Transportation Hub System was fully deployed across all stations of Xi'an Metro Line 14. Currently, contactless access devices have been installed at the entrances and exits of over 160 stations. This project has established Xi'an as China's first city with an intelligent metro ticketing system.
