Client Profile
Zhengzhou Metro is an urban rail transit system serving Zhengzhou City and the Zhengzhou Metropolitan Area in Henan Province, China. Its inaugural line, Line 1, commenced trial operation on December 28, 2013, making Zhengzhou the 19th mainland Chinese city to launch urban rail transit.
-
Customer pain points
The solution enhances transit accessibility by accommodating passengers in situations that would otherwise prevent smooth gate passage, including drained mobile devices, insufficient funds, childcare obligations, or active phone conversations.
-
Cooperation Plan
On September 27, 2019, Zhengzhou Metro's contactless payment system officially commenced operations, initially covering the entire Line 1 and Phase I of Line 14. Each station features two entry gates and two exit gates equipped with contactless devices. Currently, the system has been expanded to six lines with over 130 stations.
-
Implementation results
It represents the first nationwide implementation where an entire metro line enables contactless payment, featuring live facial recognition authentication and automatic deduction through the official metro app.
This groundbreaking solution pioneers a global innovation by seamlessly integrating contactless and QR code payment methods at turnstiles. It is also the world's first full-line deployment of a 'ride now, pay later' credit-based payment system for contactless gate access.
